Measurement of Spontaneous Fibrinolytic Activity.

چکیده

The spontaneous fibrinolytic activity of blood is due to a labile activator which appears to be stabilized by adsorption to fibrin (Fearnley and Tweed, 1953; Fearnley, 1953; Flute, 1960). At present activator activity can be measured only indirectly through its conversion of plasminogen to plasmin which in turn causes fibrinolysis. Whatever method is used it is essential to cool the blood sample to 0°C. immediately it is obtained, and to carry out any subsequent manipulations at this temperature in order to preserve the activator which disappears rather rapidly from fluid blood kept at room temperature. Two factors inhibit spontaneous fibrinolysis, the natural inhibitory capacity of the blood, which is probably complex, and the presence of calcium (Fearnley and Tweed, 1953; Fearnley and Lackner, 1955). The first can be diminished by dilution as shown by MacFarlane (1937) or by separation of the euglobulin fraction, the inhibitors remaining in the supernatant. Calcium can be removed by precipitation. It is easier to measure fibrinolytic activity in blood than in plasma, and we have developed two simple methods for this purpose, one of which is really a modification of the other.

Identification of Fibrinolytic Activity in Iranian Vipera Lebetina Venom

Background and purpose: Vipera lebetina lives in different areas in Iran, and its venom contains a variety of proteins with coagulant and anticoagulant activities. Fibrinolytic enzymes could have a therapeutic role in dissolution of blood clots, so, this study aimed at separating the venom components of Iranian V. lebetina and detecting its anticoagulant activity. Materials and methods: In thi...

The 'fibrinolytic potential' as a simple measure of spontaneous fibrinolysis.

Natural or spontaneous fibrinolytic activity of the blood is due to a labile activator which is stabilized by fibrin formation. Current methods of measuring spontaneous fibrinolysis require either low temperature centrifugation when plasma is used or photography when diluted whole blood is used and neither is available in the average laboratory. A method of measuring fibrinolytic activity in bl...

Study of garlic effect on fibrinolytic activity of the blood clot in vitro

Abstract Introduction The main function of the fibrinolytic system is to dissolve fibrin clots in circulation. This system is composed of inactive precursor plasminogen which can be converted into plasmin by the proteolytic enzymes like tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA). Fibrinolytic properties can be found in a variety of medicine plants and they could effectively prevent cardiovascula...

Analysis of essential oil components from four food spices and determination of their in vitro fibrinolytic activity

Introduction: Atherothrombotic diseases such as myocardial or cerebral infarction are serious consequences of the thrombus formation in blood vessels. Thrombolytic agents are used to dissolve the already formed clots in the blood vessels. However, these drugs have certain adverse effects, which cause serious and sometimes fatal consequences. Methods: Plants essential oils were prepared and ...
